Sonic Creator Casually Confirms Legendary Michael Jackson Music Rumor
Excerpt from a news article originally posted on CBR.com (original article here)

Rumors about pop star Michael Jackson's involvement in the development of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 have finally been confirmed.

Sonic's co-creator, game designer Yuji Naka, definitively confirmed the long-standing rumor with a somewhat casual post on Twitter. While discussing changes that were made to the game in the new retro compilation Sonic Origins, Naka casually let it slip that Michael Jackson did indeed compose several tracks for the Sega Genesis/Megadrive classic, and stated that the musician's work has been replaced for its latest re-release. "Does Sonic Origins Sonic 3 have a different song?...Oh my god, the music for Sonic 3 has changed, even though SEGA Official uses Michael Jackson's music," Naka wrote.

Sonic Origins, which was released on June 23 for the Sony PlayStation 4, Microsoft Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Windows PCs, features Sega's first official re-release of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 in several years. While Sega has made a habit of reissuing the other titles in the popular franchise somewhat frequently, Sonic 3 was mysteriously absent from many of the company's other recent retro compilations. This has led to speculation that the game's re-release may have been held up due to legal issues surrounding the ownership of Jackson's music. Sonic Origins appears to confirm this, as several tracks from Sonic 3, which were widely believed to be the ones composed by the late pop star, have been replaced with new songs in the collection.

Rumors have swirled for decades about Jackson's involvement with the production of Sonic 3. Several developers who worked on the game previously mentioned that the "Beat It" and "Thriller" artist secretly composed several songs from the game, but for reasons that have yet to be explained, both Sega and Naka previously officially denied that Jackson had any involvement with the title's production.

Kendrick Lamar Headlines Hip Hop Heavy Coachella music festival
News article originally published on music industry site RapStation.com
Kendrick Lamar is the latest hip hop artist to get top billing at the world renowned Coachella Music Festival.

The Grammy Award-winning rapper will take over Coachella's main stage on the third and sixth days of the annual music festival, January 16th and the 23rd. Radiohead and Beyonce are the show's other headlining musicians.

The prestigious headlining spot is the most recent accomplishment for the Compton rapper, who has quickly emerged as one of the premier socially conscious voices in hip hop right now. Last year, Lamar took home five Grammy awards and his compilation album, Untitled Unmastered, was released to near unanimous critical acclaim as it debuted at the top of the Billboard 200. Lamar is also preparing to launch a sneaker he designed with Reebok, which will go on sale later this month.
Lamar is the latest hip hop artist to headline the festival, following in the footsteps of artists like Snoop Dogg, Kanye West, OutKast, and Jay Z.

The festival will also host sets from many of hip hop's biggest acts, including DJ Khaled, Schoolboy Q, Denzel Curry, Gucci Mane, and many more. You can see the festival's full line-up here
